What “cheap ebike insurance” usually leaves out
Filter ebike insurance by price and you'll find policies that look great on the headline number. Read the wording and the battery is excluded (extra £3–£5/month to add), the motor isn't covered, theft from sheds is excluded, and recovery isn't part of the offer at all.

Pricing scales with your ebike's value and starts from around £153/year (≈£13/month equivalent). Year 1 is billed annually upfront — it covers up to £149 of tracker hardware plus professional install. From year 2 you can switch to monthly billing or stay annual at a discount. The subscription includes tracker, install, recovery, and insurance — no add-ons, no surprise excess on the recovery side.
Is cheap ebike insurance worth it?
Cheap-feeling ebike policies usually have narrow cover — battery excluded, theft only between certain hours, only if locked with a specific lock category to an immovable object. When you actually claim, the cheap policy isn't cheap. BackPedal's recovery service means most subscribers never need to claim — the bike comes back. That's the cheapest outcome of all.
