• What does BackPedal ebike insurance cover?+

  Every BackPedal ebike subscription includes a covert GPS tracker, professional installation, 24/7 recovery team, and backup theft insurance underwritten by Sundays. Battery and motor are covered. If your ebike is stolen we attempt recovery first; if we can't get it back, the Sundays-backed insurance handles a claim, subject to standard policy terms. £50 excess on insurance claims, £200 on battery-only claims, zero on recovery claims.

• Is the ebike battery covered separately?+

  Battery cover is bundled into the main subscription — there's no separate battery policy to buy. Theft, theft-related damage, and recovery all apply to the battery as part of the bike. Standalone battery claims (e.g. a battery stolen from a charging area) have a £200 excess. Battery fire and electrical failure follow manufacturer warranty terms first, then insurance.

• How much does ebike insurance cost in the UK?+

  Pricing depends on your ebike's value and starts from around £153/year (≈£13/month equivalent), scaling up with bike value. Year 1 is billed annually upfront and covers up to £149 of tracker hardware plus professional installation. From year 2 you can switch to monthly billing or stay annual at a discount. • Is BackPedal best for ebike commuters in London?+

  London is our highest-recovery segment by volume — densest theft patterns, deepest local expertise, fastest agent deployment. Recovery itself runs UK-wide (we already recover fleet ebikes nationwide), so the bike comes home wherever it ends up. • Does home insurance cover ebikes?+

  Sometimes — but capped low (often £500–£1,500) and limited to theft from inside the home. Most home contents policies exclude ebike theft from sheds, garages, on the street, or while riding. Battery cover is rarely included. Ebike-specific cover with recovery is almost always cheaper in practice once you factor in claim outcomes.
